Nasendoscopy

Nasendoscopy Sydney Edgecliff

What is a Nasendoscopy?

Nasendoscopy is a common in-office procedure that uses a camera to visualise the inside of the nose and throat.

What does a nasendoscopy involve?

Prior to the procedure, an anaesthetic spray is delivered into the nose. This will both anesthetise and decongest the nose and allow for easy movement of the camera through the nose. Once the spray has taken affect, the camera is placed in the nostril and progressed through the nose. If assessment of the throat is needed, the camera is progressed further into the airway to obtain visualisation of the throat (pharynx) and voice box (larynx).

The procedure usually takes under a minute and is highly effective at identifying problems in the nose & throat.
